Before you send us photographs of your face, you should know precisely what happens to them. This notice sits outside our Terms on purpose — consent this important should not be buried in a contract.

1What you are consenting to

I expressly consent to SZNZ processing the photographs I provide for the purpose of producing my personalised colour analysis.

You give this consent with an unticked box in the app before you upload anything. It is separate from accepting our Terms and separate from marketing. We record the date and time, the exact wording, the version of this notice and the purpose, so that both of us have a reliable record.

2Why we need photographs

Personal colour analysis is a measurement, not an opinion. Your skin, eyes, hair, brows and lips have measurable colour, and the relationships between them determine your season. A photograph is the only practical way to measure them.

We usually ask for three to five photographs. More evidence means no single image — a bad light, an odd white balance — decides your result.

3What happens, step by step

  • Facial feature detection runs on your own device. The software that locates your eyes, brows, lips and skin regions does not upload your photograph to do so.
  • Each photograph is checked for usability — focus, exposure, colour cast, glare. Unusable images are excluded or weighted down, and we tell you which and why.
  • Small colour samples are taken from defined facial regions and converted into numeric colour values.
  • Measurements from all your usable photographs are combined so that outliers do not dominate.
  • The combined profile is compared against the twelve seasons in the SZNZ framework, and your palette, report and draping images are generated.

4Where your photographs live, and for how long

  • Stored privately on our infrastructure, access-controlled so that only your account can retrieve them, and shown to you only through short-lived signed links.
  • Photographs from an analysis you never complete are cleared 30 days after upload.
  • Photographs from a completed analysis are kept while your account is open, so your report and draping images can be re-rendered — and deleted within 30 days of your account closing.
  • You can delete your photographs yourself at any time in your settings, without deleting your account or your results.

5What we never do

  • No facial recognition, identity verification or face matching. SZNZ does not need to know who you are to measure colour.
  • No surveillance, and no sharing with advertisers or data brokers.
  • No race, ethnicity or identity classification. SZNZ has no such feature, and we do not infer, record or display it.
  • No medical, diagnostic or health inference.
  • No model training on your photographs, and no use in developing our methodology, unless you separately opt in — which is off by default.
  • No sending of your photographs to any AI provider. The only text we ever pass to an AI service is short, non-identifying colour wording, to phrase it more naturally.

6Withdrawing your consent

You can withdraw at any time from your settings or by emailing [PLACEHOLDER — privacy contact email address]. Withdrawal stops any further processing of your photographs and lets you delete them. It does not make the analysis we already carried out unlawful, and a report you have already downloaded remains yours.

7Your other rights

Our Privacy Notice sets out your full rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, our special-category assessment for facial photographs, and how to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
